Find calm and clarity with therapy in Des Moines, Iowa

Life looks fine on the outside but doesn’t feel that way inside.

You’re capable, intelligent, and used to figuring things out on your own. But lately, it feels like your thoughts are running faster than you can keep up. The harder you try to quiet your mind, the louder it gets. Some days you feel anxious about the future and other times you feel sad and discouraged.

Even small decisions can feel overwhelming when you’re already carrying so much. You find yourself exhausted, irritable, or questioning if this is all there is.

It’s easy to feel alone when you’re the one everyone else leans on.

It makes sense that you’re tired. You’ve been trying to manage emotions with logic and that only goes so far. You don’t need to fix yourself. You just need a space where you can finally exhale, make sense of what’s happening, and begin to feel better.

Reconnect with yourself through mindful therapy in Des Moines

Imagine feeling more like yourself again.

The anxiety that used to take up so much space begins to soften. You’re more present and less reactive. There’s room for connecting with yourself again. You begin to get clear on what actually matters to you.

Relief doesn’t always come from doing more. It often begins with slowing down.

Together, we’ll use mindfulness-based approaches to help you reconnect with yourself in a kind and compassionate way. You’ll learn how to navigate thoughts and emotions with less struggle and more choice. You’ll begin to sense that peace is possible, even when life is complicated.

You don’t have to carry this alone. Let’s talk about what’s next.

Therapy in Des Moines blending mindfulness, ACT, and EMDR

How I Help

I work from a foundation of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapies, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also integrate EMDR when it’s helpful or desired. These approaches blend reflection with practical tools, allowing both your mind and body to be part of the healing process.

Feel grounded, understood, and more at ease in your own life.

Therapy with me is conversational and collaborative. You don’t have to prepare or perform. You just get to show up as you are. From there, we make sense of what’s working, what isn’t, and what might help you move toward something that feels less stuck and more meaningful.

Common Struggles I Help With

Overcome anxiety with compassionate therapy in Des Moines, Iowa

Anxiety That Won’t Quiet Down

Anxiety can make even simple tasks feel impossible. You may notice yourself overanalyzing conversations, losing sleep, or living in a state of constant tension.

You’ve probably been coping for years—it’s just getting harder to hide it.

Therapy offers space to understand and learn to work with your anxiety instead of struggling with it. Using a variety of tried and true strategies tailored to your needs, we’ll work toward a calmer, more balanced way of living and being.

Mindful therapy in Des Moines to support life transitions

Navigating Life Transitions

We’ll move gently, integrating somatic and mindfulness techniques to help you feel safe and supported as you heal.

Change, even positive change, can stir up uncertainty. Whether it’s a relationship shift, a career change, or an unexpected loss, transitions can leave you wondering who you are now. They have a way of turning everything upside down. Before you may not have struggled with anxiety or depression, but some transitions have a way of bringing it out.

Growth often begins in the space between endings and beginnings.

Therapy can help you explore what’s next and who you’re becoming. You can find groundedness even in the middle of the storms of transition and begin to see possibilities in the new life ahead.

Find peace with EMDR and trauma therapy in Des Moines

Healing From the Past

You don’t have to have “Big T” trauma to carry emotional weight. Life is full of traumas both big and small. In fact, it’s more about how the trauma affected you than how big it was. There’s a number of ways to work on trauma. Approaches such as EMDR can help process memories and experiences that still feel stuck so they no longer shape your present.

It’s not about reliving the past. It’s about releasing its grip on the present.

If you’re ready to feel more like yourself again, I’d love to help.

Hi, I’m Gina.

I’m a licensed therapist (LISW) based in West Des Moines, Iowa. I work with thoughtful, high-functioning adults who are ready to feel better, understand themselves more deeply, and reconnect with what gives their life meaning.

Therapy with me feels grounded, conversational, and real.

You’re a unique person, not a diagnosis. My approach is holistic, taking into account your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. I’m trained in cognitive behavioral therapy and several mindfulness-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR. I have also completed specialized training in mindfulness, meditation and yoga.

People I work with describe me as warm, intellectually engaging, and down-to-earth. I’ll meet you where you are and together we’ll make sense of what’s next.

Why I Do This Work

I love working with smart, self-aware people who are trying to live intentional, meaningful lives. Most people I work with are adults navigating anxiety, depression, transitions, or that existential sense that something’s missing or off.

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to.

Whether you’re seeking relief from anxiety, processing the past, or simply wanting to feel more grounded, I’m here to help you find your footing again.

A Note About Change

Therapy isn’t magic, but it can be transformative. Many people describe unexpected moments of clarity—times when the noise quiets and something finally makes sense.
